This is the Manual of Style for 101 Dalmatian Street wikia. Please do not do any reorganization and cleanup of wikitext on the wiki unless you are fixing things to follow this style guideline. Review what you wrote and try to make sure that there are no spelling errors, missing punctuation, or grammatical errors.
Formatting and Grammar
General grammar
- Series, films, albums, and books should be italicized: 101 Dalmatian Street, D is for Dalmatians
- Episodes, songs, and scores should be in quotes: "Dog's Best Friend," "It's a Dog's Life"
- Punctuation should be inside of quotation marks: Dylan appears in "Boom Night."
Links
- Links are typically written as follows:
Dolly
,"The Dog House"
. - Links such as
Dylan
anddylan
are pointless.Dylan
is the correct way to leave this link.
Categories
- Every article should have categories linked at the bottom. When linking a category within the actual text, type it with a colon before "Category" (e.g.
:Category:Characters
).
British-Canadian English vs. American English
- Although 101 Dalmatian Street is a British-Canadian series, American grammar and spelling is preferred, as most of the visitors of this wiki are located in the United States.
Editing articles
- Thanks to fandom's format, anyone can edit this wiki. If you would like to add to this wiki, feel free to do so. Additionally, if you come across an error on a page, feel free to edit it out. If you see a problem that cannot be resolved via a simple edit, contact an admin of the wiki.
Character articles
- Character articles should have a character infobox at the top of the page;

is preferred overInfobox character
, as the latter lists information which is mostly already cited in the actual article (usually within the first paragraph), including the character's full name, home, family, and gender. - Character articles are typically organized as follows:
- Infobox and opening paragraph giving general information
- Character origins - the character's development history and physical appearance in both concept art and final design
- Background - the character's biography, personality, and notable appearances
- Filmography/Appearances - a bullet list of appearances the character makes within the series or related productions
- Notes - additional facts or observations about the character
- Foreign voice actors
- Names in other languages
- See also - linking articles that relate to the character (mainly galleries) in a bullet list form
- Sources
- Dylan and Dolly's pages are given more variety in their headings, as they are the main characters and thus have the most information.
- Minor characters should have little to no headings, as there isn't enough information to justify them.
- All character articles should be included in Category:Characters. Additional categories, such as Category:Recurring characters or Category:Animals should also be included if applicable (see Category:Character types for character categories that may not pertain to all characters).
Episode articles
- Episode articles should include
Infobox episode
at the top of the page. - Episode articles are typically organized as follows:
- Infobox
- Plot - a summary of the events of the episode
- Characters - character who appear in the episode
- Voice cast - a list of voice actor in the episode and the characters they played
- Notes - additional facts or observations about the episode
- International releases
- Names in other languages
- See also - the episode's gallery or other articles relating to the episode
- Sources
Images
- Each article should include images that help support the main text. These images should be formatted as follows:

. These images are placed to the righthand side of the article by default. While editing, these images should be placed under infoboxes or headings. If there isn't an infobox in the article, place the image at the top in its place. - Use names for files that are relevant to the image. Avoid uploading images with auto-generated titles, as they are difficult to add to articles.
- Avoid adding images that are duplicates of other images. This wiki has 7,975 images, many of which are duplicates or unused, so adding more duplicated or unused images is unhelpful.
Point of View
Articles must be written in a neutral tone, giving no bias or preferences. Articles should never be written to express the opinions of a user. Additionally, avoid the use of imperative form and second person ("you") when writing articles.
Trivia/Notes
- Notes (or Trivia) sections of articles can be difficult to write, as it varies from article to article. The general rule for adding to these sections is to firstly consider if the fact is even notable. In general, consider common sense and logic to make trivia clear and straight to the point.
