ā€œOh, kibbles!ā€
—Dawkins' catchphrase

Dawkins Dalmatian is a supporting character in 101 Dalmatian Street. He is a male Dalmatian and one of Delilah and Doug's 99 puppies. He is highly intelligent and 101 Dalmatian Street's resident inventor. Because of his smart and responsible nature, he often acts as the second-in-command for Dylan and Dolly.

The original pitch bible for 101 Dalmatian Street lists Dawkins as a female character. Additionally, Dawkins was meant to have a bumbling puppy assistant named Dizzy. In the final series, Dawkins is changed to a male character, while his assistant's name is used for Dizzy.

Dawkins makes a brief, non-speaking appearance in the pitch reel for the series. He is given a supporting role in the series' storyboard pilot, where he is voiced by Issac Ryan Brown, who gives the character an American accent. Dawkins' design in these two appearances gives him all-black ears, spots on his cheeks that resemble freckles, and glasses. In concept art for the prototype version of "My Fair Dolly," Dawkins has a molecule tag on his collar, a detail absent in the storyboard pilot.

Dawkins' final design is similar to his design from earlier material produced, with some changes: the glasses were removed in favor of spots, and he has a different molecule on his collar, among other minor differences. For the final series, he is voiced by Rhys Isaac-Jones and is given an English accent. Dawkins made his debut in the series premiere, "Dog's Best Friend," where he made a brief, one-line cameo.

Dawkins struggles to find what to do with his free time in "Dawkins Strikes Back."

Dawkins is a science nerd and the most intelligent of his family. He is also very responsible and rational, though his logical nature can sometimes leave him shortsighted. He is a natural sidekick and assistant for Dylan and Dolly; in several of his appearances, Dawkins is either teamed up with Dylan or Dolly or forms a trio with both of them.

Dawkins is the resident engineer of 101 Dalmatian Street. According to "Dawkins Strikes Back," Dawkins is skilled at repairing the various inventions at 101. "The Woof Factor" shows that Dawkins attempted to install an indoor rocket elevator inside 101, though it ended up damaging multiple floors of the house. In "A Date with Destiny… Dallas and DĆ©jĆ  Vu," he invents a "puppy bubble wrapper," a gun-like device that can incase puppies in spheres of protective bubble wrap. He additionally tinkers with technology in "Winter Funderland," "Fetch," and "Poodlewolf!," among other episodes.

Dawkins' other hobbies include studying outer space and playing the Poodlewolf board game (both of which are attributes he shares with Dylan). He is also shown to enjoy assembling jigsaw puzzles in "The Wow of Miaow."

Dawkins is very attached to his plush toy, Princess Positron; whenever the Princess is in danger, Dawkins is quick to panic. He also frequently points out the Princess' achievements and nobility when others belittle her. However, Dawkins' love for his Princess Positron plush doesn't stop him from developing a short-lived fascination with the title character of "Fetch."

A running gag in the series involves Dylan and/or Dolly announcing, "Dawkins, you're in charge!" whenever they leave the house. This results in Dawkins uttering his catchphrase, "Oh, kibbles!" before a stampede of puppies pile on top of him. Another of Dawkins' repeated phrases is the agreement "I concur."

Dawkins' most major role in the series is in "Dawkins Strikes Back," where he goes on strike from his duties at 101 when Dylan and Dolly show little care for his wellbeing. After the Canal Crew see him struggling to relax at the park, they teach him their ways of laziness. When Dylan finds Dawkins and asks him to return to fix the malfunctioning inventions of 101 Dalmatian Street, Dawkins hesitantly refuses. However, when Dolly asks him later, he is more convinced and returns home. After some negotiating (with help from Big Fee), Dawkins is given more credit for his work and more reasonable breaks.

Dawkins and Dylan[]

Dawkins has a close bond with his older brother Dylan, as they both share interests in innovation and outer space. Additionally, they both have a common interest in Poodlewolf; in the episodes "Poodlewolf!" and "Poodlefall!," Dawkins assumes the role of Inventicus opposite to Dylan's Poodlewolf.

Episodes that pair Dawkins with Dylan include "It's My Party," where the two are tasked with throwing a birthday party for Dallas; "Don't Push Your Luck," in which they repeatedly attempt to prove that Big Fee's supposed luck is fake; "The Longest Night," where Dylan brings Dawkins along with him for Hansel's Longest Night challenge; and the Gigglebug Guarantee short "Target Pups," in which they test out the Kibble Pump.

Despite their strong relationship, Dawkins and Dylan have had occasional arguments and disagreements. In "Dal-Martians," Dawkins becomes annoyed with Dylan's know-it-all behavior, ultimately joining Dolly to pull a prank on him. In "Dawkins Strikes Back," Dawkins becomes exasperated by how Dylan and Dolly take him for granted, leading him to go on strike.

Dawkins and Dolly[]

Dawkins is also frequently teamed up with Dolly, beginning with "Winter Funderland," in which they tinker with 101 Dalmatian Street's thermostat to produce snow from the house's ventilation system. In "My Fair Dolly," Dawkins helps Dolly in training her to become a more posh dog. In the episodes "Poodlewolf!" and "Poodlefall!" Dolly seeks assistance from Dawkins for Poodlewolf-related emergencies concerning Dylan.

Dawkins occasionally finds himself frustrated with Dolly, specifically with her tendency to skateboard indoors (as seen in "Balancing Act") and her lack of appreciation for Princess Positron (as displayed in "The Walls Are Alive"). Furthermore, he gets outraged with Dolly's lack of gratefulness for his toil in "Dawkins Strikes Back."
