Doug Dalmatian is a supporting character in 101 Dalmatian Street. He hails from America and is the biological father of Dolly. He is the husband of Delilah, the father of 99 puppies, and Dylan's step-father. He works as a firefighter dog in Camden Town.
Development and design[]
Some early concepts show Doug with all-black ears and a red collar with a more detailed golden firefighter tag. Other concepts give him a blue-gray collar. Some concepts give him a slimmer appearance, making him look more like Pongo. The pitch gives him a more definitive appearance. In the storyboard pilot, Doug has a different voice actor, but he still maintains a similar voice direction in comparison to the final series.
Doug's final design gives him a spot over his left eye and a more unique silhouette. He is also given a blue collar with a more simplified golden tag.
Background[]
Doug is warm and loving to his family. His silliness often entertains the puppies, though he is serious when he needs to be. He works as a firefighter dog under Captain Walker, as seen in "All Fired Up." He spends most of his days at work studying and preparing for fire-related emergencies.
Doug is supportive and thoughtful toward his wife, Delilah. In "Snow Day," he and Delilah team up to ready half of the pups for the snow. In "Girls' Day Out," Doug's Mother's Day gift to his wife is a day at the dog spa. In "A Summer to Remember," Doug and Delilah try to find time alone during their vacation. In "Fetch," Doug and Delilah celebrate their anniversary at the park. "Fetch" also reveals that Doug's anniversary song with Delilah is "We're Sending You Love."
Doug is also devoted to his 99 puppies. When he returns from work, he announces "Honies, I'm home!" before a stampede of excited puppies trample him with hugs. In "All Fired Up," the character's biggest role, Doug participates in "Take Your Kids to Work Day," as he takes Dolly with him to the fire station.
