Doug Dalmatian (sometimes referred to as "Dad") is a supporting character in 101 Dalmatian Street. He hails from America and is the biological father of Dolly. He is the husband of Delilah and the father to 99 puppies, including Dolly and Dylan.

Character origins[]

Some early concepts show Doug with all-black ears and a red collar with a more detailed golden firefighter tag. Other concepts give him a blue-gray collar. Some concepts give him a slimmer appearance, making him look more like Pongo. The 101 Dalmatian Street pilot gives him a more definitive appearance.

Doug's final design gives him a spot over his left eye and a more unique silhouette. He is also given a blue collar with a more simplified golden tag.

Background[]

Doug is a warm and loving to the dalmatian puppies and to his wife, Delilah. His silliness often entertains the puppies, though he is serious when he needs to be. He works as a firefighter dalmatian for Captain Walker, as seen in "All Fired Up." He spends most of his days at work studying and preparing for real emergencies.

Doug debuts in "Dog's Best Friend," where he arrives home from work after a long night shift, spending the day sleeping. He has a prominent role in "Snow Day," where he and Delilah team up to ready half of the pups for the snow. Doug's biggest role is in "All Fired Up," where he takes Dolly to the fire station and later puts out a fire at Dalmatian Street. In "Girls' Day Out," he prepared a spa day for Delilah and Dolly. In "A Summer to Remember," Doug and Delilah try to find time along during their vacation. "Fetch" reveals that his anniversary song with Delilah is "We're Sending You Love." Doug also has prominent roles in "Better the De Vil You Know" and "The De Vil Wears Puppies."

Personality[]

Doug is a very warm, loving American father & husband, always announcing "Puppies, I'm home!" when he gets home from work so he can get puppy-piled & hug as many of his pups as possible. He is thoughtfully considerate, as he organized a day at the spa for his wife Delilah as a mother's Day gift & obviously meant to make it a date for them but opted to pass it up to give Delilah & their daughter Dolly some mother/daughter time.

He's very responsible and driven to care & provide for his family, & takes his job as a firefighter dog seriously.

Physical Appearance[]

Doug has white fur with black spots, with most of the rear half of his body being black. He wears a dark blue & yellow collar. He is bigger in size compared to the rest of his family.

Filmography[]

Notes[]

  • It's revealed that Doug is the biological father of Dolly, and the step-father of Dylan.
  • Dawkins is the only known puppy to call Doug by his first name as opposed to "Dad."
  • In the Brazilian Portuguese dubs, Doug was incorrectly referred to as Pongo in an episode.
