Deepak Dalmatian (typically /ˈdiːpæk, -pɑːk/ DEE-pak, -pahk) is a supporting character in 101 Dalmatian Street. He is one of the 99 puppies among Delilah and Doug. He has markings on his face that resemble the yin-yang symbol, reflective of the opposite sides of his personality.

Character origins[]

Deepak's designs have remained consistent since his concept art. In concept art, he had his yin-yang markings on his face and opposite patterns on his ears. However, one concept shows him without the yin-yang markings. Some show him with a more circular head, possibly to more resemble a yin-yang.

In his final design, the right side of his face and his right ear are black, while the left side of his face and left ear are white. He is given bags under his eyes and a blue and red collar. His tail is bent, and his paws often face inward, both to show his anxious personality.

Background[]

Deepak tries his best to remain calm, though he is prone to panicking. He is often seen meditating, whether it be on a pillow, a pumpkin, or Fetch. When meditating, he often says "Miaow-wow-wow-wow..." under his breath. "The Wow of Miaow" shows that Deepak partakes in yoga classes with Constantin. He is also a fan of The Great Guru Miaow. Deepak speaks with a British-Indian accent.

Deepak makes his debut in "Boom Night," watching the fireworks with the rest of his siblings in the final scene. He had a supporting role in "Snow Day" and a larger role in "The Woof Factor." In the latter, Dylan and Dolly, who plan to impersonate Triple D for a photo shoot, choose Deepak to take the place of Déjà Vu. Deepak's most major role was in "The Wow of Miaow," where he leaves the Dalmatian house and stays with his mentor, Constantin. The episode reveals that he calms his siblings whenever they are stressed, including getting Dorothy out of "the chews." He later returns to the Dalmatian house after he learns how things are going without him. Deepak appears in episodes later in the series, albeit with more minor roles. Deepak also appears in the Gigglebug Guarantee short, "Yoga Pups," where he meditates on Dolly's skateboard as she tries to get it back.

Filmography[]

Notes[]

  • Most characters pronounce Deepak's name as "Dee-pack." However, Dolly sometimes pronounces it as "Dee-pahk."
  • According to a line from Dawkins in "Walkies on the Wild Side," Deepak only eats organic kibble.
  • Deepak is possibly named after Deepak Chopra.
