Diesel Dalmatian is a supporting character 101 Dalmatian Street. He is one of the 99 puppies among Delilah and Doug. He is a dim-witted, cross-eyed puppy who is obsessed with digging.

Character origins[]

Concepts for Diesel are similar to his final appearance, having spots of mud along with regular dalmatian spots, a unibrow, and poor eye focus. In "Dog's Best Friend" and other early episodes, Diesel is given a blue collar instead of his normal light brown collar.

Background[]

Diesel is a puppy that is almost always seen digging, including in the backyard of the Dalmatian house, the park, and even indoors. His skills of digging often make a mess for Dylan to clean up, though his skills have been shown to be helpful in "Fear Window" and "Diamond Dogs." He isn't bright, which somewhat annoys Dylan and Dolly. "The Nose Job" shows that Diesel sleep-digs in a similar fashion to sleep-walking. The episode also shows that he has a highly developed sense of smell and can tell an object's entire history with only a few sniffs.

Diesel is first seen as a background character in "Dog's Best Friend." He also has a brief appearance in "Boom Night." His first major appearance is in "Power to the Puppies," where he is accidentally elected as top dog of the Dalmatian house, leading to disastrous results. In "Poetry Scam," Diesel is wears a cone that gives him unintentionally gives him better hearing. He later has a prominent role in "The Nose Job," where he is accused of vandalizing the horse statue in the park. In "It's My Party," Diesel is given the responsibility of throwing a birthday party for Déjà Vu. Diesel also stars in the Gigglebug Guarantee short, "Muddy Pups."
