Spencer Sausage Dog is a recurring character in 101 Dalmatian Street. He serves Portia's assistant and sidekick. Spencer is just as snooty and snarky as Portia, often uttering sarcastic quips toward others (specifically Dylan).
Development and design[]
The original draft for the 101 Dalmatian Street bible mentions that Spencer would "translate" whatever the tongue-tied Dylan tries to say to Portia. In the final series, Spencer does not provide this assistance, instead opting to wisecrack at Dylan's expense.
Spencer is a blue-gray dachshund with a light brown underbelly and dark spots on his ears and back. He wears a black jacket and a dress shirt collar.

Spencer is a snobbish dachshund who acts as the loyal sidekick of Portia. As he reveals to Dylan in "Crushed Out," Spencer goes wherever Portia goes. He carries out many tasks for Portia, including painting her dog house in "The Nose Job."
Ben Bailey Smith, Spencer's voice actor, said of the character:
Although he makes brief speaking cameos in "Winter Funderland" and "Poetry Scam," Spencer isn't properly introduced until "Crushed Out." Here, he repeatedly warns Dylan (or "Danny") about the dangers of trying to woo Portia.
Spencer plays a significant role in "The Nose Job." In the episode's opening, he partakes in the Nose-Off, an annual competition that tests dogs' sniffing skills. Spencer has been the consecutive champion of the contest, though he loses here after ironically failing to identify the scent of a sausage (much to the amusement of the Dalmatian puppies). He is later one of several individuals Dylan suspects of framing the Dalmatians for vandalizing the park.
Spencer later makes notable appearances in "The Curse of the Ferrydog" and "Dotty Dancing." He helps Portia prank Dylan in both episodes, though their efforts are shut down thanks to Dante in the former episode and Dolly and DJ in the latter.
